I recently put a pair of Tom Holmes humbuckers on my Gibson SG, i like to experiment on my guitars and customize them to my likes. The first mod to that guitar was to put all vintage hardware, i found some Grover tuners from early 70's, the stop and the bridge are from a 70's les Paul as well and the back of the neck was distressed.
I tried a few Pickups on the guitar, they all sounded great but i wanted something fantastic! i remembered playing on Giovanni Rizutto's telecaster on which he had the Tom Holmes and the feeling was awesome! So i got in touch with Tom and asked him a pair of his most famous humbuckers H450 and H455 unspotted with 4 conductors so i can split them. The pair is about $580 and it takes up to 6 month to get your order delivered..but when i played it i did not complain at all on the price and delay!!
These pickups are really the best humbuckers i ever played! it sings, it breathes, everything i like! They sound fantastic on clean sounds as well as overdriven tones..i would not recommend this set for higher distortion or "metal" dudes but for those who like creamy warm bluesy sounds, it's the holy grail!! latest mod on the guitar, i put Bumblebees capacitor for even more vintage flavor… i will try to record some sample and post them on the forum..
